Accrington midfielder Ian Craney says he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a broken leg and broken ankle and could return next by Christmas.
He sustained the injury in training after colliding with team-mate Tom Bender three weeks ago.
The 29-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I must be one of those people who heal quick.
"The year before last I had a grade three tear of my hamstring and played the next game."
The former Swansea and Huddersfield player is in his third spell as a Stanley player. He helped the club win promotion to the Football League in his first spell in 2006.
He said: "I got the plaster cast off last week which is a bit of a relief because it was meant to be on for six weeks and I had it taken off after a week and a half.
"The specialist told me that it would be the end of January but when I got the boot off he told me that I was two weeks ahead of schedule so that will knock me down to the first week in January but I think I will be before that."
