Carl Heeley feels City can be competitive in Blue Square Bet North

A goal in each half from midfielder Tom Thorley helped Worcester City secure a convincing 3-0 win over Altrincham in the Blue Square Bet North.

City were on their way after only eight minutes when Simon Brown was brought down for a penalty.

Brown took the spot-kick himself and calmly put the home side, who have climbed to seventh, ahead.

Thorley doubled the lead on 40 minutes and then made the game safe with his second goal nine minutes from time.

Worcester manager Carl Heeley told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"We kept winning numerous balls high up the pitch and, if anything, I thought we were going to get more goals in the last 10 minutes.

"We looked very threatening every time we broke forward, so that is pleasing.

"It is nice to get the three points but that is all we have got so we will focus on the next game."
