Barnsley manager Keith Hill believes goalkeeper Luke Steele has the ability to play for England.
The England retirement of Paul Robinson and Ben Foster means Championship keepers are now contenders as back-up for Joe Hart.
"International recognition will be great for Luke Steele, I don't see why not," Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"He has been in tremendous form and I know that he has been highly admired by a lot of other teams."
Derby's Frank Fielding and Ipswich's David Stockdale have recently received international call ups.
Steele, who has made over 100 appearances for Barnsley, has represented England at Under 21-level but Hill acknowledges his keeper must not rest on his laurels.
"Luke Steele, like all the boys has got to work hard and keep developing. "Everyday is a learning day and if they do [work hard] they'll get their opportunities."
