Gillingham midfielder Jack Payne has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until the summer of 2015.
The 19-year-old, who has scored two goals this season, has been a regular fixture in the Gills starting XI since making his debut in 2008.
Manager Andy Hessenthaler told the club website: "This is absolutely fantastic news for the club.
"There are exciting times ahead, Jack is a local lad who has a hunger and desire to do well."
Earlier this week Payne's Gillingham team-mate Danny Kedwell told BBC Radio Kent that the teenager is capable of playing at a much higher level than League Two.
Payne's two goals this season, against Barnet and Bournemouth, were both long range efforts.
Hessenthaler added: "He's a player who wants to learn, he wants to get better every day."
