Wrexham stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games as they drew in a scoreless encounter at Braintree in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Fleetwood also drew, 1-1 at Gateshead, to leave Andy Morrell's side top on goal difference.
The hosts were down to 10 men for the final six minutes after defender Aswad Thomas was sent off for a second bookable offence.
But Wrexham were unable to make the advantage tell.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:
"I think we deserved it, I think it was a really tight game. With the sending-off you worry, they showed a lot of bottle and I'm delighted with the effort.
"It's not just about the defence, you've got to defend in midfield, you've got to defend from the front. We haven't been doing that well lately, today we have.
"We both could have a nicked it so a draw is probably a fair result on the day."
