Substitute Danny Crow struck two minutes into injury time to give Luton Town victory at Newport County in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Crow converted from close range as Luton climbed up to sixth in the table.
Newport's Sam Foley and Elliott Buchanan saw shots blocked while Ismail Yakubu headed wide from six yards.
Luton's best chance before Crow's winner came from Stuart Fleetwood but his close-range strike was brilliantly saved by Danny Potter.
County remain 22nd even though Alfreton won their basement battle with Hayes and Yeading.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Wales:
"We were in a position to certainly get a point out of the game and we haven't been able to do that.
"It's crucial times in the game where you've got to see the game out
"Good teams punish you and we've been punished today. We had a chance to punish them [and] we didn't do it.
"I can stand here and make excuses. The players have got to take a bit of responsibility."
Luton manager Gary Brabin told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"I thought we deserved it, although we made a bit of hard work of it at times. It was a tough place to come with tough conditions.
"I said at half-time we needed to get a bit more consistency and be a bit more forceful. I think we did that in the second half.
"I always believed we were going to get a goal and the timing of it was fantastic."
