Algeria striker Abdelmalek Ziaya's contract with Saudi side Al Ittihad Jeddah will not be renewed when it expires next month.

Ziaya has been asked to look for new employers when his contract expires at the end of December.

The 27-year-old is being released after failing to impress the technical team.

"We can officially say that we will not extend the contract of Abdelmalek Ziaya at the end of December," Al Ittihad president Mohamed Bendakhel said.

Ziaya joined the Jeddah-based side after helping Algeria to qualify for the 2010 African Cup of Nations and the 2010 World Cup.

He scored nine goals in his first season at the club and has only managed to find the net just twice this year.

Ziaya has struggled with injuries this season and their elimination at the quarter-final stage of the Asian Champions League means Al Ittihad want to recruit new players.

The striker joined the club from Algerian side Entente Setif.
