New shareholding vote for Dundee supporters

By Jim SpenceBBC Scotland

Dundee fans are to vote on giving up their majority shareholding and allow fresh outside investment, to safeguard the club's future.

It is understood that up to £500,000 of new income could flow into the Dens Park club if the fans agree.

The Dundee FC Supporters Society will ballot fans for the second time in just over three months.

They will ask if the fans are prepared to give up their majority shareholding of 53% in the club.

This would allow outside investors to put money in, with several investors already lined up and willing to inject fresh funding if the fans agree to allow their shareholding to fall below 50%.

The opportunity to invest in the club will be open to supporters, businesses and fans groups in the new year if the proposal to reduce the current shareholding of fans is accepted.
