Wolves are hoping defender Richard Stearman will be back in action sooner than expected after breaking his wrist.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury after falling awkwardly during last Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Everton.
But he is to have a carbon fibre cast fitted and manager Mick McCarthy said: "Stears might be training next week with the youngsters.
"If it is something he can play with, it will be sooner rather than later when he returns."
It was initially feared that Stearman, an ever present in the Premier League so far this season, might be out for a month.
But Wolves can ill afford to be without him after a dismal run of results which has seen them slump to 17th in the table.
Stearman definitely misses Saturday's trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and McCarthy will have his fingers crossed that he might be able to return for the home game against Sunderland on Sunday week.
