Uganda lead the way at the Cecafa Cup

Uganda coach Bobby Williamson has led the Cranes to an impressive start at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup

Uganda reached the quarter-finals of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup on Monday, with a 4-0 victory over Somalia in Dar-es-Salaam.

The win gives the Cranes a maximum six points from their two Group B games so far at the East and Central African regional tournament.

Meanwhile in Group C, there was a 2-0 victory for Malawi over Kenya, while Ethiopia and Sudan drew 1-1.

Uganda's Emmanuel Okwi got a hat-trick in the match against Somalia.

It was their second victory of the competition, after their 2-1 win over Zanzibar on the opening day.

Burundi drew 0-0 with Zanzibar on Sunday.

The first games in Group C of the competition were played on Monday and it is Malawi who have taken the early lead in this pool.

The Flames, who are guests at the tournament alongside Zimbabwe, beat Kenya 2-0 thanks to goals from John Banda and Joseph Kamwendo.

In the same pool, Ethiopia and Sudan played out a 1-1 draw.

Parib Othman put Sudan in front but Getaneh Kebede equalised for the Ethiopians.

Group A resumes on Tuesday, with matches featuring Djibouti against the hosts, Tanzania and Rwanda versus Zimbabwe.
