Blyth Spartans have signed Republic of Ireland under-21 goalkeeper Robert Birdsall on an undisclosed deal.
Birdsall, 20, was selected for a home-based Irish Under-21s fixture against Irish Amateurs in February, while playing for Tralee Dynamos.
"We had Robert training with us a while ago, around the time that we got David (Knight) and were looking to bring him in then," boss Steve Cuggy said.
"He was keen to get himself sorted with a full-time deal."
Cuggy added: "He's been playing for Bradford City reserves recently, but they have their keepers sorted for the season and couldn't accommodate him.
"His arrival could be timely though given Knight's upcoming suspension."
Birdsall could make his debut in Spartans' trip to Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.
