Braintree boss Alan Devonshire unhappy with referees

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire has hit out the quality of refereeing in the Blue Square Bet Premier

The Iron have had a player sent off in each of their last three matches, with Kenny Davis the latest to be dismissed at Tamworth on Tuesday.

"I'll end up packing the game over these referees."

"All I want is honesty, if they've made a mistake hold your hands up, tell us why they are doing what they are doing," Devonshire told BBC Essex.

"But they can't even be straight with you. It's just a closed shop, it spoils the game and is unnecessary."

"My players have to explain themselves, why can't they?"

Matt Paine, Aswad Thomas and Davis have been shown red cards in successive games and Braintree have now had five players sent off this season.

Devonshire added: "There's no point in appealing because they [referees] all stick together.

"It's getting worse, at this level you think it will be better."

"I love the game, I've been a manager now for a while, but it is getting to me. I've really had enough of the referees."
