Southend United have suspended midfielder Jemal Johnson for 14 days following his alleged role in a fight outside a nightclub.

The 26-year-old was arrested last week in relation to an incident in Ilford on 28 Octoberexternal-link, but released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The Shrimpers will conduct their own investigation into the event.

The club said the American-born winger will not be considered for selection or training until the review is complete.

The former MK Dons and Wolves wideman, who signed a one-year contract with Southend in July, has made just one league start this season.
