Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cotterill says he wants to freshen up his squad in the January transfer window.

The Reds have fallen back into the Championship relegation zone following Tuesday's 4-0 home defeat by Leeds.

Cotterill told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We probably need to trade a little if we can and maybe freshen things up a little bit, if possible.

"But that has got to be based on trading. You can't force anybody to buy anybody from your squad."

The Reds, who have the second worst goal difference in the Championship, are now 22nd in the table but level on points with three clubs above them.

Cotterill added: "We do need to try and address as quickly as possible and get everybody together, and keep everybody together.

"That's the only way we can get away from the bottom half of the table."
