Bristol Rovers captain Matt Gill has been ruled out for two months after undergoing knee surgery.
The 31-year-old, who is in his first season with the club, has made 18 appearances this term but has had an on-going cartilidge problem.
The midfielder joins Scott McLeish, Adam Virgo and Wayne Brown on the long-term injury list.
"It's not great at the moment numbers-wise," Rovers manager Paul Buckle told BBC Points West.
"We've got to be very careful in training that we're not adding to that."
