League leaders Charlton Athletic saw their eight-game winning run brought to an end by a determined Walsall side.
The Saddlers took a deserved lead when Oliver Lancashire's touch from Mat Sadler's corner set up Jon Macken to shoot home from close range.
The visitors equalised before half-time when Hogan Ephraim's cross from the left was headed in by Yann Kermorgant.
Sadler was sent off for a second yellow card before Ephraim hit the post for the Addicks deep into added time.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Charlton manager Chris Powell told BBC London 94.9:
"My players were desperate to get the win so much that I think they thought they were losing 1-0 not 1-1.
"A point is very favourable. Of course we came here trying to get three points but you have to be careful away.
"I still take the positives. We are now on 47 points and still on top."
