Tranmere 0-2 MK Dons

In-form MK Dons maintained their League One promotion push with a fifth straight win at Tranmere.

The Dons went in front with their first chance, a smart counter attack resulting in Jabo Ibehre heading in a far post cross by Adam Smith.

It needed a terrific fingertip save by Paul Rachubka to deny Luke Chadwick, but the visitors doubled their lead with a low strike by Shaun Williams.

Jose Baxter struck the bar with a free-kick for luckless Rovers.

Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"I think they're the best side we've played this season. But in the first half I think we were unfortunate to go in 1-0 down.

"Managers can complain about goals they concede, but their first was quality. We're not blaming any of our lads for it, it was a quality goal.

"We weren't able to get close to them, and you've got to get close to them to stop them passing because they pass and move really well."

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I thought the performance today was almost perfect. We had an edge, we looked aggressive, we looked firm, we looked strong and looked like we cared.

"Tranmere are a good team and they make it very difficult for you at Prenton Park. I have been here many times and have never heard a Tranmere crowd that quiet before.

"I felt that they were never in touch with us, and that is not being disrespectful to Tranmere.I just thought we were excellent. "
