Kenya crashed out of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup on Saturday after losing 1-0 to Sudan in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania, meanwhile, scrapped through as one of the best third-place finishers despite losing 2-1 to Zimbabwe.

Saturday's results mean Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Uganda, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Malawi and Sudan qualify.

Former winners Ethiopia and Kenya as well as Djibouti and Somalia go home.

Sudan got their goal early in the first half through Muawia Bashir Koko and the score-line stayed the same despite sustained attacks from the Kenyans.

In the second match of the day, Zimbabwe started strongly and grabbed the lead after just two minutes through Daniel Ngoma who capitalised on a defensive mix-up to head home from close range.

The Zimbabweans extended their lead with a deflected goal ten minutes later.

Tanzania had to wait untill late in the second half to get their consolation from the penalty spot.

The quarter-final matches start on Monday with Sudan playing Burundi while Rwanda face Zanzibar.

Uganda will play Zimbabwe on Tuesday, the same day that hosts Tanzania are up against Malawi.
