Southampton must address away form - Nigel Adkins
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins believes his side must improve their away form if they are to maintain their push for promotion from the Championship.
The Saints, who have won just one of their last five away games, slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Doncaster on Saturday.
"We know we have to address our away form," Adkins told BBC Radio Solent. "Maybe it's our desire to go and win the game that is what has cost us."
"If we're going to get promoted we need to win more away games," he added.
"We've come away expecting to beat Doncaster. When you look at the table, we're top and they were bottom.
"It's a lapse of concentration that has cost us and, after that, we had to try and get back in the game."
Southampton's defeat means that, having lost 2-0 at Bristol City last week, Adkins' side have now lost successive away games to teams in the bottom third of the table,
In contrast to their indifferent away form, the Saints have won their last 21 encounters at St Mary's in all competitions, a run dating back to their 1-0 success over Carlisle on 12 February.
