Uganda will play hosts Tanzania in the semi-final of the Cecafa Cup on Thursday after both sides won their quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Playing in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam, Uganda beat Zimbabwe 1-0 in the first match of the day.
The Taifa Stars made the home fans happy when they beat Malawi 1-0 in their game in Dar es Salaam.
Uganda met a tough Zimbabwean side and despite taking the lead it was the Warriors who dominated the game.
Walusimbi raced through the Zimbabwe defence before his cross met by Hamis Kiiza at the far right corner for the opener.
Zimbabwe had the best chance of the game in the 68th minute but Charles Sibanda chipped onto the Uganda crossbar.
Meanwhile, Tanzania needed a Nurdin Bakari goal to see off Malawi who were one of the impressive sides in the competition.
Bakari fired a low shot from 17 yards in the 35th minute after being set up by Mrisho Ngassa to maintain their hopes of retaining the title.
They will face Uganda in Thursday's last four game while Sudan take on Rwanda.
