O'Neill 'honoured' to be Sunderland boss

At his first news conference since taking over as Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill states it is a "genuine honour" and a "privilege" to take over at the Stadium of Light.

The former Aston Villa, Celtic and Leicester manager says Sunderland "is a fantastic football club" and explains his decision to support Sunderland as a boy.

O'Neill says he is seeking to "galvanize" the passion of fans on Wearside and restore the squad's lost confidence.
