Derby County have cancelled the contract of defender Russell Anderson by mutual consent.

Anderson, 33, last appeared for the Rams in the 3-0 home defeat by Cardiff City on 2 November.

Derby boss Nigel Clough told the club website: "Russell is a fantastic professional who moves on with our very best wishes.

"He has been unlucky with injuries and the form of others during his time here but his attitude has been first class."

Anderson, capped 11 times for Scotland, is using the facilities at former club Aberdeen as he bids to recover from his latest injury setback.

However, the centre-half is expected to take another two months to regain full fitness.
