Southport manager Liam Watson has urged his team to call on their resolve following Saturday's 4-0 defeat by Alfreton in the FA Trophy.
Despite the set-back, the Sandgrounders have started the season well and are fourth in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside: "You look at the league table at the moment and we've had a fantastic season.
"We've got to get back to basics. Hard work got us there and hard work will get us there again."
He added: "We've thrown a great opportunity away to progress and get to Wembley and play in a final.
"We were only four games away from it. I've got no complaints about the result, from the first minute to the last we were out fought.
"They've shown a lot more desire and we got exactly what we deserved, which was nothing."
