Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson made his return as reserve-team captain in a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old centre-back played 45 minutes of the behind-closed-doors match at Darsley Park, before making way for defender Remie Streete.
Dan Taylor gave the Magpies a first-half lead, although Michael O'Halloran equalised for Bolton late on.
Tamas Kadar, Rob Elliot, Mehdi Abeid and Haris Vuckic also featured.
Williamson had been out of action since he injured his right ankle in the Magpies' Carling Cup success against Scunthorpe in August, one of two appearances this season.
Meanwhile his return could be timely for boss Alan Pardew, who is likely to be without Steven Taylor for the rest of the season after he ruptured his Achilles in a 3-0 defeat by Chelsea earlier this month.
Fabricio Coloccini, who has also been injured, is expected to return for Saturday's visit of Swansea City.
