Jersey to play Somerset in FA Inter-League Cup

Jersey v Essex and Suffolk
Jersey beat the Essex and Suffolk Border League 1-0 in the second round

The Jersey Football Combination will host the Somerset County League in the quarter-finals of the Inter-League Cup.

The West Country team beat the Reading League 2-1 in the second round on Tuesday night to secure a last eight trip to Springfield.

Not date has yet been set for the fixture, but the game must be played before 18 February.

Jersey football officials are hoping schedule the game to avoid a clash with a Jersey Rugby Club home game.

Jersey's National One rugby team host Rosslyn Park on 14 January and Cinderford a week later.

They also have Stourbridge visiting on 11 February, so a date at the end of January or beginning of February seems likely.

Jersey beat the Mid-Sussex League in their opening match, followed by the Essex and Suffolk Border League, to reach the last eight.

The tournament winners will go on to represent England in the Uefa Regions Cup.

Jersey's biggest rivals Guernsey won the event in 2010 and played in Croatia that summer.
