Chesterfield owner Dave Allen will back manager John Sheridan when the transfer window reopens in January.
The millionaire businessman told BBC Radio Sheffield that Sheridan will be given money to improve the squad as they fight relegation in League One.
Allen wants to bring in "footballing expertise" in the boardroom.
A club statement read: "John Sheridan doesn't suddenly become a bad manager. The management team will be supported in their endeavours."
