Guernsey FC's Combined Counties League Division One match with Spelthorne Sports on Saturday has been postponed.

The Green Lions' Footes Lane pitch is waterlogged after heavy rain.

"Despite the superb efforts of our ground staff Mother Nature has won on this occasion," said Guernsey FC chairman Steve Dewsnip.

Guernsey lead the league by 10 points, but Spelthorne are the only side to have beaten the Green Lions this season after a 2-1 win in October.

"The last thing we want to do is postpone a match especially with so many people looking forward to the last game before Christmas and a number of visiting supporters flying over for the game," Dewsnip said.

"In consultation with the Combined Counties League we have taken the opportunity to make an early decision so as to avert any unnecessary travel taking place and for supporters to make other plans at this busy time," he added.

It is the first match that Guernsey FC have postponed this season as they embark on their maiden campaign in an English league.
