Newcastle United can replicate Hoffenheim feats - Ba
Demba Ba has compared the current squad at Newcastle United to the Hoffenheim side that made an impact on their Bundesliga debut in 2008-09.
Ba was a key member of the Sindsheim side that led the German league at the halfway stage before finishing seventh, scoring 14 goals in 35 games.
"What I saw in Hoffenheim is the same thing here," Ba told BBC Newcastle.
"We have a young manager who knows how to manage and the team is similar, good footballers, good with the ball."
The 26-year-old striker has scored 11 goals in 16 games for the club following his summer move from West Ham United, where he struck seven times in 13 matches at the end of the previous campaign.
Such impressive form at domestic level has boosted his international ambitions, with a place in Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations squad looking likely after his involvement in last month's 4-1 friendly win against Guinea.
"For me, for the whole country, for the whole team it's exciting playing in the competition," he said.
"We're going to try to come back and make our country proud of us."
Senegal take part in the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon between 21 January and 12 February.
