Striker James Ellison has left Burton Albion after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
The 20-year-old former Liverpool youth-team product joined the Brewers in July 2010 but only made a total of three appearances.
Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "It just didn't work for him for one reason or another.
"He had a few issues off the pitch that didn't help him but he does have talent and he is a good player."
Ellison also spent time on loan with Alfreton earlier in the season
Peschisolido added: "It was a calculated gamble to bring in a young lad, to bring him on, and hopefully he'd become what we expect from him.
"But sometimes it doesn't work out and I wish him all the best."
