Macclesfield failed to score for a third consecutive League Two game after a stalemate with Rotherham.
The home side were indebted to goalkeeper Jose Veiga for denying Jon Harley, Alex Revell and Lewis Grabban in the first-half.
Rotherham's Johnny Mullins blocked George Donnelly's shot, and the striker also headed wide in the second half.
The Millers came close to winning it late on when substitute Brett Williams rattled the crossbar from 20 yards.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester:
"We had a good spell after half-time when we put them under pressure, I thought we might have gone on and nicked one.
"The work ethic and the togetherness they've got is second to none and they work their socks off.
"In the final third we were lacking a bit of that quality or cutting edge to get a goal but it's something we're striving to improve on."
