Torquay United manager Martin Ling says striker Taiwo Atieno has a chance to impress over the Christmas period.
Atieno is set to start the next three Torquay games after first-choice front man Rene Howe was sent off at Accrington.
The 26-year-old Kenya international has found it hard to establish himself in the side since joining the Gulls in the summer.
"He's got a role to play now as Rene's going to miss three games," Ling said.
"He was excellent in the second half, he held the ball up, he won his headers and that's what we're going to need in the next three games without Rene being up there so he's going to get the opportunity to continue," Ling added to BBC Radio Devon.
And Ling felt that his side were second best throughout their match at the Crown Ground as the Gulls ended a seven-game unbeaten run in League Two.
"I think we let it go with a whimper, even when it was 11 versus 11. We never got our passing game going. We looked second best and the result was fair.
"It was a poor performance at the end of a really good run, it was disappointing to lose in that style."
