Leicester City left-back Bruno Berner is set to cancel his contract before his deal expires at the end of January.
The 34-year-old Swiss signed a one-year contract last January but has not played a first-team game this season.
Manager Nigel Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "We are trying to come to an agreement to settle his contract.
"He is a fantastic pro and a delight to work with and has been a great servant to the club but he is not going to have a long-term future with us."
Berner, who joined the Foxes in 2008, played 21 games last season and signed a new deal after working his way back into the first-team reckoning.
But the defender has failed to add to 98 Leicester appearances this term.
