Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara has been ruled out for at least a month after undergoing surgery on a double hernia.

O'Hara, 25, was absent for the 2-2 draw with Norwich and will now miss the packed festive period.

The former Tottenham man has been out of action since suffering a calf strain in the 4-1 defeat by Manchester United.

Mick McCarthy's men lie two points above the relegation zone and come up against Arsenal, Bolton and Chelsea over Christmas and new year.

Steve Kemp, the head of Wolves' medical department, said: "Jamie has been complaining of some groin pain for the last couple of months, which we have managed conservatively.

"We were able to manage it with treatment and he was able to play, but it got to a stage where a specialist decided that surgery would be needed.

"The decision was taken to have the surgery and get Jamie at 100% rather than continue to try to manage him through it.

"He's had a double hernia repair which was performed yesterday in Manchester, which was successful. We hope he will be back in training within four to six weeks."

O'Hara signed for the club on a permanent deal for £5m in the summer, after initially joining on-loan having struggled to break into the Spurs side.
