Luton Town moved up to third thanks to a convincing victory over Kettering that drops the Poppies into the relegation zone.
The Hatters led 2-0 within 10 minutes, Jake Howells scoring from close range and Adam Watkins curling home.
Kettering had Phil Ifil sent off for a foul on Greg Taylor before the break.
Janos Kovacs headed home, Taylor volleyed a fourth and Stuart Fleetwood's neat finish sealed a dominant day for the Hatters.
Luton overtook Southport in the Blue Square Bet Premier table with the result, although they remain 11 points off top.
Kettering, who have slid down the table following financial problems, are now 22nd.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Kettering Town manager Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Northampton:
"It's a poor day at the office again. We've given them two goals in the first half, and having a man sent off, it's a mountain to climb.
"We're going to need players who can roll up their sleeves, put in a shift and get a scrappy point or three points somewhere.
"Where we're going to end up in the table is going to depend on playing the Telfords and the Hayes and Yeadings."
