Harrogate manager Simon Weaver has asked for more courage from his players after their 4-0 defeat by Guiseley.
Jamie Clarke put Guiseley ahead in the first half with his first of the season before Michael Burns scored and Chris Senior added a brace after the break.
Weaver told BBC Radio York: "It was a soft second goal, then we buckled.
"There were a handful of characters that didn't, but there were a few that just went under a bit. That's just about courage."
Guiseley are third in Blue Square Bet North while Harrogate have slipped to 16th.
Weaver continued: "We were the big underdogs today but at half-time we were in the game.
"We were looking at going down the hill in the second half with the wind behind us, to just keep going because it wasn't a bad first-half performance and we created a few chances.
Harrogate travel to Guiseley for the reverse fixture on New Year's Day.
Weaver said: "I won't be starting with the same 11 because there are too many who huff and puff.
"Too many people who are quite opinionated and think we should play the beautiful game.
"They do in training, but then when your up against a better standard of opposition the deficiencies certainly show."
