Southampton defender Jose Fonte has signed a new contract keeping him at the Championship leaders until 2015.
Fonte, 28, signed for the St Mary's based club from Crystal Palace in January 2010 for £800,000 and has played 96 games, scoring seven goals.
The Portuguese centre-back has formed a fine partnership with Jos Hooiveld in the heart of Southampton's defence.
"It was a very easy decision and I am extremely happy to have signed," Fonte told BBC Radio Solent.
"This is the only place I want to be and is one of the happiest days of my life."
The former Benfica man has been an ever present in the league this season as Saints look for back-to-back promotions.
"The chairman is doing a great job, the manager is doing a great job and all the staff are doing a great job. We are having a great season and this is the place to be," he added.
"The plan is to be in the Premier League and we just need to keep going. At the moment we are doing very well and we want to take this opportunity right now. The club has a plan and I want to be part of it."
Fonte says his partnership with Hooiveld, who Saints recently signed permanently from Celtic, is continuing to flourish.
"The partnership with Jos is getting better every game, we are getting to know each other a lot more and are improving," he concluded.
