Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre is looking for new recruits after Jason Thomson returned to Hearts.
The Fife club aim to raise income to help McIntyre bring in a "further two or three players" during the January transfer window.
Full-back Thomson's departure following his loan spell frees up funds for McIntyre to move immediately.
"We're looking to fill that space," he said. "If the right players are there I'll bring them in right away."
Dunfermline, who have yet to win at home this season, sit at the bottom of the Scottish Premier League, with 14 points from 19 games.
"I've had a chat with the board and they are working behind the scenes to try to raise funds to strengthen the squad," added McIntyre.
