O'Connor took over penalty duty in October after Town missed four kicks

Aaron O'Connor scored the only goal from the penalty spot as Luton kept up their title challenge with victory over struggling Stockport.

The home side went close as Danny Crow fired wide and Stockport goalkeeper Ian Ormson saved from Alex Lawless.

At the other end, Euan Holden smashed an effort against the crossbar.

The game-winning goal came 17 minutes from time as Carl Piergianni tripped Adam Watkins and O'Connor scored from the spot.

Luton Town assistant manager Alan Neilson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"We still had chances but I don't think we created enough in the first half.

"We thought we needed a bit more width and to go back to the formation that has suited us for the last five or six games.

"We've got a squad now with 15 or 16 players and we now they'll all do a good job."
