Simon Brown leaves Cambridge United by mutual consent
Cambridge United have released veteran goalkeeper Simon Brown by mutual consent, leaving one senior shot stopper at the Abbey Stadium.
Brown, 35, has made 49 league appearances since joining from Northampton in February 2010.
But he has failed to feature this season, with Danny Naisbitt being preferred by boss Jez George.
Both goalkeepers were transfer-listed at the beginning of the season as part of a cost-cutting measure.
"Simon has handled himself in a professional manner throughout the season despite not being in the starting 11 and has helped the club by coming to this agreement," George told the club website.
"We wish Simon all the best for the future."
