Coleraine have signed Carrick's Paul Owens and Ruairi Harkin from Derry City on 18-month deals.

Owens, who can play on the wing or as a striker, joined Carrick Rangers last summer after playing under Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney at Limavady United.

"He is versatile and will bring something different to the squad," Kearney told the club website.

Central midfielder Harkin returned to hometown club Derry in 2009 after two years with Charlton Athletic.

"Signing another central midfielder was very important for me because since the start of the season we have lost Peter Spratt and obviously Gareth Tommons is leaving at the end of this month," added Kearney.

Owens will not play against Carrick on Saturday after an agreement between the clubs but Harkin will be available for the game if international clearance is completed.
