On-loan Rochdale striker Daniel Bogdanovic says he has been surprised by the quality of football at the club.

The Malta striker, 31, moved to Spotland on a one-month loan deal and scored on his debut in the 1-1 draw with Preston.

"It was a pleasure to play with them as they play some great football," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"I didn't expect a League One club to play this sort of football and it's very good to be honest."

Bogdanovic has joined Neill Byrne, Peter Kurucz and Brett Ormerod in arriving at the club since Chris Beech took temporary charge.

After moving to Bloomfield Road in the summer the forward has made eight appearances for the Seasiders but has only started one match.

The former Barnsley striker says it was a call from current Dale assistant Ryan Kidd promising him first team football that persuaded him to drop down to League One.

"I got contacted by Ryan Kidd, we worked together for a few years at Barnsley," he stated.

"Obviously my situation at the moment at Blackpool is there are a lot of strikers.

"I hate not playing football so at the end of the day if I'm getting paid at least I would like to earn my money on the pitch.

"If I can't do it for Blackpool I want to do it for someone else where I can help."
