West Brom captain Chris Brunt will be out for up to 10 weeks after breaking his ankle during the Premier League clash with Everton on New Year's Day.
The club have confirmed that Northern Ireland international Brunt will undergo surgery on Friday.
Brunt suffered the injury when he fell awkwardly during the closing stages of the 1-0 defeat at The Hawthorns.
It means that Brunt will be absent for head coach Roy Hodgson's side until the middle of March.
It is another major injury setback for Albion, who will be without another midfielder in Zoltan Gera for the rest of the campaign after he underwent knee surgery last month.
A third, Youssouf Mulumbu, is currently sidelined with a groin problem while top scorer Shane Long needs injections to defy an ongoing back problem.
Right-back Steven Reid (knee) and central defender Jonas Olsson (ankle) are also out of action.
