The Dragons opened the scoring on five minutes when Andy Morrell set up Jamie Tolley to fire home from 25 yards.
Jake Speight then doubled the advantage with a close-range finish after good work by Jay Harris.
Callum Wilson's curling shot reduced the deficit but Wrexham were denied a third when Nathaniel Knight-Percival's header came back off the post.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell told BBC Radio Wales:
"It wasn't that pretty. We didn't play exceptionally well again today but it was just one of those games.
"The pitch wasn't great and it was tough but the lads ground it out again.
"We were under pressure a lot in the second half and maybe if we'd taken one of our chances then the game would be buried, but we didn't.
"I'm just pleased to come out with three points and off we go again."
