Tranmere manager Les Parry will be without the influential pairing of Andy Robinson and Enoch Showunmi for a number of weeks due to injury.
Robinson has torn cartilage in his knee and Showunmi has an ankle problem.
"It's a blow for us because Andy's out for between four and six weeks," Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"We've had the results of Enoch's scan and he's still got a bit of a problem in his ankle. He's unavailable now for a number of weeks as well."
The Tranmere boss insists he is working hard to bring replacements in on loan, but says he may have to play a waiting game to get his top targets.
"It's OK us having more urgency now but the parent clubs of the players we're trying to get don't see the same urgency," Parry continued.
"We don't want to just bring somebody in for the sake of it. They've got to be the right players and that's why we're watching games like we always do.
"We've just got to hold fire and get one of our first choices."
