Ryan Bennett shrugs off Gabby Zakuani collision

Peterborough United defender Ryan Bennett says he is feeing no ill effects, despite his collision with team-mate Gabby Zakuani last weekend.

The pair collided during last Sunday's FA Cup defeat against Sunderland, but Bennett will be fit for Saturday's trip to Hull in the Championship.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We both went for the same ball and I headed his teeth and cut my head open.

"He's now got a wobbly front tooth but I'd much rather have my head cut."

The former Grimsby centre-back, 21, has started every match for the Posh so far this season, mostly alongside Zakuani.

"People used to look at me when I was younger and say I didn't like to head the ball, so it's nice to have this cut in some ways," Bennett added.

"Everyone knows what Gabs is about. He never pulls out if it's two people going for the ball or 10 people."

Bennett has been linked with a move away from London Road during the January window after breaking into Stuart Pearce's England Under-21 side.

However, he has said that there is "no reason" why he will not see out his current deal at London Road.
