Arbroath twice came back from behind to draw with East Fife but slipped eight points behind Scottish Second Division leaders Cowdenbeath.

The Fifers took the lead after six minutes, Andrew Cook firing in at the near post.

Stuart Malcolm nodded a Josh Falkingham cross home to level the scores before the break.

The hosts were back in front in the 52nd-minute through Steven Hislop's cool finish from Craig Johnstone's cross.

But Gavin Swankie's inch-perfect free-kick found the bottom corner on 78 minutes and neither side could find a winner.
