Tranmere captain John Welsh has asked the Rovers fans to stick with the team and help push them up the league.

Les Parry's side drew 0-0 with Rochdale on Tuesday and have only won one of their last 11 League One matches.

"We're giving it our all, everything we've got and I hope the fans see that," Welsh told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"You can sense the atmosphere [from the fans] on the pitch and you hear things and you see things, but we try and concentrate on the game."

He added: "We've gone right to the final whistle and I just hope the fans appreciate that.

"If we would have beaten Rochdale we would have been 12th. If we can get good results in the next couple of games, you never know what may happen.

"With one or two good results and we're right back up there."

Tranmere are seven points clear of the bottom four and 10 away from the play-off berths.
