Gillingham midfielder Charlie Lee has accepted that his disciplinary record must improve.
The 25-year-old summer signing from Peterborough has collected 12 yellow cards this season and has already missed three games through suspension.
He told BBC Radio Kent: "Sometimes I'm too eager to win balls I shouldn't, some people like that in me.
"Twelve bookings at this time of the year isn't acceptable and I have to correct that."
Lee revealed that manager Andy Hessenthaler has spoken to him about his tally of yellow cards, even though Hessenthaler is one of the most cautioned players in the club's history.
"The gaffer's mentioned it but always finishes with 'who am I to say something?', but hopefully I've got something of what he had. He was a very good player," said Lee.
