Hereford 0-2 Shrewsbury

First-half goals from Terry Gornell and James Collins sent Shrewsbury fourth in League Two with victory over Hereford.

Nicky Featherstone fired wide for the Bulls before Gornell, who had already shot into the side netting, headed home Joe Jacobson's cross from close range.

Collins doubled the Shrews' lead when he latched on to Matt Richards's pass to beat Adam Bartlett from 18 yards.

The hosts tried to fight back after the break but Chris Neal saved from Joe Colbeck and Yoann Arquin.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"In the first half we had a number of opportunities that we haven't made the most of.

"The difference between the two sides was they were more clinical.

"They've had their two chances and have scored twice."

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"It's a great result for us - and one we deserved.

"Coming to a place like Hereford is always going to be difficult, especially with the local derby element.

"We won the game in the first half, and while the second half was scrappy we did enough to contain Hereford.

"It was nice to see the two main strikers get the goals - and they were two good goals, the first well worked, the second a good individual strike."
