Two late goals continued Grimsby's Blue Square Bet Premier play-off push at the expense of AFC Telford.
The visitors almost took the lead when Steve Jones ran clear but James McKeown raced off his line to block the striker's effort.
With time running out, substitute Rob Duffy climbed to head in Liam Hearn's cross into the bottom corner.
Frankie Artus made the game safe when he stroked home from close range after good work by Andi Thanoj.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Grimsby Town joint-manager Rob Scott told BBC Radio Humberside:
"It was a frustrating afternoon for everybody - players, us, fans, but we didn't play particularly well in the first half.
"They knew they needed to raise their standard and tempo and they did that in the second half.
"There were spells where Telford looked to break on us and I think that was their game plan - to try and soak it up and hit us on the break with the way that they played.
"Liam does extremely well this time as a supplier and Rob Duffy does what he's been doing when he's been coming off the bench and that is getting the goals for us."
